Clifton J. Noble
Sonatas for Violin & Piano

Joel Pitchon, violin; Clifton J. Noble, piano

Smith College composer Clifton J. Noble and his colleague, Prof. of Violin, Joel Pitchon, have collaborated in performing four lively and appealing sonatas - melodic, sometimes heartfelt and serious; often clever and whimsical with many elements of jazz. One of these, the Sonata # 5 was written especially for Pitchon by the composer.

"I enjoyed Noble's sonata's. They're broadly traditional. . . perhaps influenced by someone like Poulenc. . . Noble himself does the honours as pianist and his violinist of choice [Pitchon] ably projects each turn of Noble's writing with adroit understanding.", Jonathan Woolf (MusicWeb)
